The famous "Monkey Chapel" by Johann Joachim Kaendler naturally also includes the "Violinist". He is one of the 21 collectible figures with which Kaendler wanted to ironically hold up a self-portrait to the society of the court in 1753. In keeping with the trend of the time, the monkey was his motif of choice. Yet each monkey in this charming ensemble is different, but always dressed in human clothing. Each figurine is handmade and hand-painted, because traditional craftsmanship is still alive and well at MEISSEN. In commemoration of the great master of this craft and on the occasion of the 310th anniversary of the manufactory, modeler Silke Ebermann created this new edition of the hand-painted collectible figurines.
