Candlestick with onion pattern is a hand-painted decorated work of the famous master modeler Johann Joachim Kaendler. First designed in 1745, it still enriches the field of interior design Meissens. The pure white square base contrasts with the immaculately rounded shape, which is hand-painted in the manufactory's own cobalt blue. The candlestick has a height of 14 centimeters and elegantly and simply presents the famous onion pattern, which was created in 1731 by taking inspiration from blue-designed East Asian decorations. The stylized motifs of the historic pattern, reminiscent of onions, earned the decor its name in the vernacular, as they originally featured peaches, melons and chrysanthemums. The onion pattern was hand-painted in the most beautiful filigree work on the pure white candlestick and can be wonderfully combined with other pieces of this collection.
