Bitter, spicy or fruity? Cocktails are a true all-rounder and their detailed appearance makes your heart beat a little faster.
Yet which cocktails are particularly suitable for cooler temperatures? Here is a selection of classics so that you can prepare the ideal drink even in frosty temperatures and excel in front of your festive guests with sophisticated aperitifs:
Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule
- 120 ml / 4 oz vodka
- 60 ml / 2 oz cranberry juice
- 120 ml / 4 oz spritzed apple juice
- 2 ginger beers
- ice cubes
- cranberries
- 1 lime (in slices)
For the preparation of the Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule, two tumblers must be first filled with ice. Then vodka and cranberry juice are poured into the tumblers. The glasses are then filled with apple spritzer and ginger beer and the cocktail is well mixed. To finish off, you can garnish your creation with cranberries and lime slices - and the winter cocktail is ready to serve.
Gingerbread Eggnog
- 5 egg yolks
- 350 ml /11.8 oz whipped cream
- 125 g / 1/2 cup sugar
- 250 ml / 8.5 oz rum (alternatively brandy or whisky)
- 2 tsp. gingerbread spice
- A little vanilla sugar
- Cream for the topping
For the gingerbread eggnog, the eggs must first be separated and the yolks placed in a heat-resistant bowl. Then the sugar is added to the egg yolks and the mixture is beaten until foamy. Continue stirring over a boiling water bath and stir in the cream. A teaspoon of gingerbread spice can be added as soon as the mixture has reached a fine, creamy consistency. Then immediately take the pot off the stove and stir in the alcohol. Finally let the Eggnog cool down and decant into bottles. Add vanilla sugar before serving and as a crowning finish decorate the winter cocktail with a cream topping and sprinkle with gingerbread spice. Santé!
White Christmas Mojito
- 1 lime (the juice thereof)
- 8 mint leaves
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 2 tbsp. white rum
- 1 tbsp. coconut rum
- 100 ml / 3.3 oz coconut milk (canned)
- Mineral water top-up
- Pomegranate seeds (for decoration)
- Mint leaves (for decoration)
- Cinnamon (for decoration)
- Ice cubes
Mix lime juice, sugar and mint leaves in a large jug until the leaves disintegrate. Then mix the white rum, the coconut rum and the coconut milk in a mixer until the mixture has a fine consistency. Finally pour mint, lime and sugar mixture over it, mix and allow to cool. To serve, spread the ice on the glasses and evenly fill both glasses with the newly prepared mixture. Finally, pour mineral water over the cocktail and sprinkle with mint leaves, pomegranate seeds and cinnamon.
