In 1753, MEISSEN's first model master, Johann Joachim Kaendler, created a series of hand-painted collectible figures consisting of 21 monkeys playing music, with which he mischievously held up a mirror to courtly society. For the 310th anniversary of Meissen arts and crafts, modeler Silke Ebermann revived Kaendler's orchestra of monkeys. Like the arts and crafts of that time, each figurine is still finely handcrafted and hand-painted today. All figurines, including the "singer", are reminiscent of Kaendler's unique skills. With the "Monkey Chapel" collectible figurines you enrich your home with the unmistakable flair of MEISSEN and the memory of MEISSEN's probably most famous artist.
